Groningen, Netherlands
The Excalibur climbing wall is part of 'Klimcentrum Bjoeks'. But it definitely earns its own page on this site. With a height of 37 meter and a overhang of 11 meter it is a unique outdoor climbing area in the Netherlands! The wall is equipped with a few top rope routes, 4 on the laying side and a few on the hanging side up to 15 meters. For the other routes you need to have experience with lead climbing.
On the laying side routes range from about 4 up to around 6a+. The hanging side start at 6 and if your lucky they even have a 9a route.
Equipment
To reach the top of Excalibur you need a 80 meter rope. If you do not own one, or cannot bring it with you, they have them for rent.
You do not have to bring your own quick-draws and carabiners, they are already mounted on the wall.
So even if your passing by it is possible to try it out. Ofcourse it is best to bring your own shoes, but even those can be rented ;-)
Staying over night
If you pass by and have a tent in the back of your car, or inside your backpack, you're in luck! It is allowed to camp on their terrain. There are showers available, as well as a microwave. The wall closes at 23.30 and open at 9.00. Ofcource all only after asking them ;-)
